STEVENSVILLE — The year round Kent Is­land Farm­ers Mar­ket is tak­ing a one week break. It will be closed the Thurs­day be­tween Christ­mas and New Year’s and re­open Jan. 3. The mar­ket is lo­cated at 830 Ro­man­coke Road and is open from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thurs­days.

There will be some changes to the mar­ket in 2019. Two ven­dors are leav­ing and new ven­dors are com­ing in. Lo­cal ve­gan Chef Kelly Cot­ter is re­join­ing the mar­ket in the new year. Body and Soul Cafe has unique tasty ve­gan op­tions. She makes such del­i­ca­cies as ve­gan crab cakes with tar­tar sauce, Golden Mylk, her very pop­u­lar falafel dip and much more. New sweets baker Emily Car­roll of Emily’s Pas­tries spe­cial­izes in di­etary re­stric­tions as well as Ital­ian desserts and baked goods. Af­ter grad­u­at­ing from Kent Is­land High School, Car­roll stud­ied in Italy un­der a mas­ter chef for a year. There is also a new mi­cro­greens grower based in Den­ton, named First Greens.
