Kent Island Farmers Market closed this week
STEVENSVILLE — The year round Kent Island Farmers Market is taking a one week break. It will be closed the Thursday between Christmas and New Year’s and reopen Jan. 3. The market is located at 830 Romancoke Road and is open from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursdays.
There will be some changes to the market in 2019. Two vendors are leaving and new vendors are coming in. Local vegan Chef Kelly Cotter is rejoining the market in the new year. Body and Soul Cafe has unique tasty vegan options. She makes such delicacies as vegan crab cakes with tartar sauce, Golden Mylk, her very popular falafel dip and much more. New sweets baker Emily Carroll of Emily’s Pastries specializes in dietary restrictions as well as Italian desserts and baked goods. After graduating from Kent Island High School, Carroll studied in Italy under a master chef for a year. There is also a new microgreens grower based in Denton, named First Greens.
