QUEENSTOWN — On Wednesday morning, Dec. 19, Lt. Earl Johnston and 1st Sgt. Morris “Sonny” Jones of the Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Office placed wreaths on the Queen Anne’s County Fallen Heroes Memorial.

Among those honored are Sheriff’s Dfc. Jason Schwenz and Centreville Police Officer Michael Nickerson. Both were tragically gunned down in Centreville after responding to a noise complaint on February 13, 2001.

In 2003, the Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 108, in conjunction with the Queen Anne’s County government dedicated the Fallen Heroes Memorial Park, on Route 18, in Queenstown. The memorial was built to honor police and firefighters who died in the line of duty.

“We thank and remember every fallen hero that has made the ultimate sacrifice for all of us. These fallen heroes will never be forgotten for their service,” said Sheriff Gary Hofmann.
