Gra­sonville VFW lun­cheons con­tinue through March

GRA­SONVILLE — This com­ing Satur­day, Jan. 12, will mark the first of the three re­main­ing ham, beef and oys­ter lun­cheons held at VFW Post 7464 in Gra­sonville. The well-known Satur­day lun­cheons have been hosted at the VFW for more than 20 years. How­ever, they are now held only once a month. The re­main­ing dates for the lun­cheons will be Feb. 9 and March 9.

All the lun­cheons be­gin at 11:30 a.m. and run through 2 p.m. The prices re­main the same as they have been for the past sev­eral years: $9 for your choice of ei­ther pit beef, pit ham, pit turkey, or fried oys­ter sand­wiches, all served in huge thinly sliced por­tions on your choice of ei­ther white or rye breads or a Kaiser roll. The price in­cludes all the trim­mings of bar­be­cue beans, coleslaw, potato chips and dill pick­les.

Hand-breaded fried oys­ters, oys­ter stew (renowned as pos­si­bly the best any­where) and fresh shucked oys­ters on the half-shell are also avail­able, also for $9 each, in­clud­ing the trim­mings. Huge por­tions of Board­walk fries are avail­able for $3. Soft drinks or adult bev­er­ages can be pur­chased at the bar.
