Judging by the first three weeks of the high school football season, inconsistency is one of the few consistent aspects for some county teams.

Take Lakeview and Anchor Bay. The Tars, who had been steamrolled 36-8 by Utica last week, came back to take a 25-12 MAC White Division road win at Lakeview Friday night.

The host Huskies were coming off a 28-6 victory over L’Anse Creuse North.

Anchor Bay opened the 2020 campaign with a 40-0 win over Ford. Lakeview fell 21-18 to Warren Mott in its opener.

On Friday night, visiting Anchor Bay never trailed. The Tars led 13-0 at halftime on scoring runs of four and 26 yards and went up 19-0 before Lakeview’s Evan Kuhle scored on an 80yard run in the third quarter. A two-point conversion attempt failed and the Huskies trailed 19-6.

With 9:16 remaining, Anchor Bay extended its lead to 25-6. That rushing TD covered four yards.

Another Kuhle scoring run followed, this one measuring 58 eight yards. The two-point conversion failed and it was 2512 with eight minutes left in the game. He gained 155 yards on only six carries.

That was all the scoring for the night.

The Tars had 316 yards of total offense. Lakeview managed 229 yards on offense.

Anchor Bay dominated the time of possession, holding the ball for 32:28. The Lakeview offense had the ball for just 15:32.

Anchor Bay bumped up both its MAC White and overall record to 2-1. The Tars, who played in the MAC Red Division last year, have already won one more game than they did during the 2019 season. Former De La Salle and Dakota coach Mike Giannone is on the Anchor Bay sidelines.

“Anchor Bay is good. They did a nice job. They played real well. We played bad offensively in the first half, but were better in the second half. But we could not stop them at all. They were more physical thanwe were,” said Pat Threet, the Lakeview coach.

“We are not that far off. We have to concentrate on getting better and learn from our mistakes. We’ll get there,” continued Threet.

Lakeview fell to 1-2, 1-2.

The Tars are scheduled to play L’Anse Creuse North next week. The LCN Crusaders were sidelined this week due to the coronavirus.

Lakeview will visit Ford next Friday.

Brian St. Clair ran for two touchdowns and Gjon Djurasevic kicked a field goal to lift host Romeo (12) to the MAC Red victory. St. Clair scored on runs of 10 and one yards. Eisenhower is 0-3.

The Patriots’ Nathan Castello completed six of 13 passes for 75 yards. Young also made eight tackles.
