Two injured, mobile home destroyed in fire
A3-year-old child and his 20-year-old father were injured Monday in a fire that destroyed a Clinton Township mobile home.
Fire Chief Tim Duncan said Tuesday the pair suffered nose burns and smoke inhalation in the fire that was reported at 4:09 p.m. Monday at Windsor Farms Mobile Home Park, located southeast of Hall Road and Gratiot Avenue. A media report indicated they were in stable condition Monday at McLaren Macomb, and Duncan said he believes the child was transferred to Children’s Hospital in Detroit.
Duncan said mobile homes typically burn faster than stationary homes due to materials used to construction them.
“They burn quicker, hotter and faster,” he said.
The cause of the fire is undetermined and under investigation. The initial report indicated it started in the couch area of the living room.
About 20 firefighters arrived on five engines, a ladder truck, ambulance and command car responded. The fire was under control at 4:56 p.m., he said.
The residents of the home lost virtually all of their belongings, and a gofundme. com page has been created to raise funds, he said. The Red Cross is also assisting.

As of Tuesday morning, the GoFundMe.com page had raised $1,810 toward a $10,000 goal.
