Shamrocks and Shenanigans doubles the fun this year
The first year it was just a fun way to raise some money for Woman’s Life Chapter 911 and the Sparkle Network, two nonprofit organizations that work throughout the year to support needy causes in Macomb County.
Being held around St. Patrick’s Day it was dubbed the Shamrock and Shenanigans Photo Road Rally & Scavenger Hunt.
People loved it.
So a second rally was held.
Now the Shamrock and Shenanigans Photo Road Rally is not only a St. Patrick’s Day tradition but there are two rallies: March 19, at the Woman’s Life Hygiene Pantry (48542 Van Dyke) in Shelby Township, with registration starting at 6:30 p.m. and the rally starting at 7 p.m.; and March 20 at the Eastpointe-Roseville Chamber of Commerce (24840 Gratiot Avenue) in Eastpointe, registration at 2 p.m. and rally starting at 2:30 p.m.
“When we reached out to community businesses asking them if they wanted to sponsor the event and become a rally stop the response was tremendous,” said Moe Lietz, founder of the Sparkle Network. “Within 48 hours we had all of the sponsors we needed and still had businesses asking to be a part of the event.”
The cost for participants is $50 per car with each limited to four people. Entry fees must be paid in advance during the pre-registration March 9 (for both events). To register visit the Woman’s Life Chapter 911 Macomb Angels on Facebook
Each team is asked to bring supplies for the scavenger hunt including a Smartphone, pencil, ruler, clipboard or notebook, highlighter, flashlight and $5 bill. Instructions for the rally and scavenger hunt will be given out ahead of the event.
Team amass points and cash prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place. However, participants must reach the final destination by 9:11 p.m.
“People love to cruise. This gets them outside and it’s something different to do,” Lietz added.
