Shooting closes two sections of Mound Road
Road rage may have been involved in incident
Two separate sections of Mound Road were closed for hours Saturday afternoon as authorities investigated a shooting that took place in Sterling Heights but the victim ended up seeking help at a Warren restaurant.
According to reports, police believe the shooting may have been the result of a road rage incident.
Warren police closed southbound Mound Road at about 3 p.m. after a motorist driving a black Dodge Durango pulled into the parking lot of Chili’s on the corner of 12 Mile and Mound and walked into the restaurant asking for help and reporting he had been shot.
The 31-year-old male victim was transported to
Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital where he was treated for gunshot wounds. There was no immediate word on his condition.
Warren police officers, including the K9 unit, are investigating the scene and searching the Chili’s parking lot and Mound Road for evidence.
At approximately 2:45 p.m. , Sterling Heights police received reports of shots fired in the area of 16 Mile and Mound. Mound Road is currently closed at 16 Mile while police conduct their investigation. Officers found shell casings in the roadway.
Both police units are trying to determine where the shooting took place and if the two incidents are connected.
A description of the shooter was not immediately available.
