Band boosters to sell used instruments
Proceeds from the sale help to support program
Looking to purchase a trombone for an aspiring musician?
How about a saxophone? These instruments and more will be available during the Utica High School Band Boosters’ Used Instrument Sale, Sept. 25.
“If you are unsure what you want to play, and would like to own a gently-used instrument, sometimes of a professional quality, this is the event for you,” said Joe Syler, Utica High School teacher and UHS bands alumni.
The sale, open to the public, gives customers the chance to buy and sell a variety of musical instruments and serves as a fundraiser for the high schools instrumental programs.
It’s a win-win event for everyone.
For sellers, the sale is the chance to turn that aged instrument into cash. Appraisers will be available from 8 to 11 a.m. to offer suggested sale prices to sellers.
Later in the day, from 1 to 4 p.m., doors open to shoppers who will be given the chance to buy instruments at discount prices. For beginning musicians, including elementary and junior high students, this event serves as a chance to pick up an instrument at a low price. A new trombone, for example, can cost anywhere from $200 to $2,000.
The used instrument sale will be held at Utica High School, 47255 Shelby Road in Shelby Township.
At the end of the sale, sellers pick up their payment or the instrument that didn’t sell.
