Jason Michalski and his Grosse Pointe North teammates were too hot to handle in the second half.

Michalski scored two of his five goals during the Norsemen’s 7-0 surge after halftime in an 11-4 MAC crossover lacrosse victory over shorthanded L’Anse Creuse on Friday night.

Michalski’s fourth goal gave the visitors an 8-4 lead with 2:08 left in the third quarter, and his last one put the MAC Red team ahead 9-4 with 8:44 left in the fourth.

“We kept it moving a little bit in the first (half), but we couldn’t really get anything,” Michalski said. “We were boxing the ball and stuff. Then in the second half we kind of picked it up. We said this team is very beatable and we went to work.”

Chase Reinhard’s second goal of the night gave Grosse Pointe North a 5-4 lead in the third quarter, and Mitchell Mills scored twice in 24 seconds for a 7-4 lead.

“We figured ourselves out and got a win out of it,” Michalski said.

Mills finished with four goals. Mike Kurtz scored two goals and Sean Kohloff and Bryceton Harris one apiece for L’Anse Creuse.

The MAC White Lancers were missing nine players because of injury and illness, coach Don Roda said.

“You could see that we were playing with a lot of guys that aren’t normally starters that don’t have the stick skills and the lacrosse IQ,” Roda said. “It wasn’t a lack of effort, but it wasn’t pretty either.”

L’Anse Creuse honored its 1991 state Tier 2 championship team at halftime.
