More sex crime charges for Dr. Zvi Levran
A Farmington Hills urologist accused last month of multiple sex crimes involving a teen patient is facing several more criminal sexual conduct charges based on allegations from four additional victims.
Zvi Levran, M.D., was arraigned Friday on one count each of second-degree criminal sexual conduct and third-degree criminal sexual conduct, and eight counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct, based on four new criminal complaints. All of the alleged victims were connected to youth hockey organizations, according to police, and reported being sexually abused during physical examinations at Levran’s home office.
At arraignment, 47th District Magistrate Michael Sawicky set bond at $1 million cash.
If Levran posts bond, he’ll be monitored by electronic tether, confined to his home with specified exceptions, and can have no unsupervised physical contact with patients. He’ll also be prohibited from treating patients at his home office.
Levran is also affiliated with area hospitals.
In late October, Levran was charged with four counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct and three counts of fourthdegree criminal sexual conduct involving a 19-year-old male, then released with an electronic tether after posting a $100,000 cash/surety bond.
For the latest charges, he surrendered himself to the Farmington Hills Police Department on Thursday, officials said.
Defense attorney Joseph Lavigne had asked the court for a lower bond, describing Levran as cooperative and compliant with his previous bond conditions. Assistant prosecutor Barbara Morrison argued for a high bond, and said Levran is a risk to the public.
Levran has provided medical assistance to youth hockey organizations in Michigan and Minnesota for the past 20 years, police said. He’s also reportedly an assistant hockey coach.
Levran’s next court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 7 before 47th District Judge James Brady.
