Huvaere buck pole contest back today

-

Dick Huvaere’s Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM is holding its 11th annual buck pole contest from 3-9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, and Wednesday, Nov. 16, at the dealership’s body shop, located at 66629 Gratiot Ave., Richmond.

Michigan residents with a valid Michigan hunter’s license can come in and register their deer. The buck must be taken legally on Nov. 15 or 16 with a bow, rifle, shotgun or muzzleloader and be field dressed on one of those days.

Prizes will be awarded to the biggest entry for men, women and youth categories with a Grand Buck Champion prize for the twoday event. Every hunter that registers a deer will receive a gift card in their registration package along with a raffle ticket that enters them into a hunter drawing for Detroit Red Wings tickets for a specified game.

The family-friendly event will have exhibits from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Laser Mark-It, St.Clair Flats Taxidermy, Bizzy Bug Skull Cleaning, VF Sports, Grace Performance and Mag-naPort International with things for all to see and do. Great Lakes Smokehouse BBQ will have a food truck on site and RAM Trucks will have an exhibit showcasing the new 2022 1500 Big Horn Crew Cab 4×4. Test drives available by appointment.

Face painting, give-always and bounce house (weather permitting) available for the kids.

The Lake St. Clair Walleye Association will have their mobile stage and also be sponsoring several raffle items to benefit the P.A.T.H Foundation, which provides hunting and fishing trips for terminally ill children and adults, disabled or disadvantaged individuals and disabled military veterans to promote, educate and/or preserve outdoor heritage.
