Police: Man shot dead, another person stabbed
Separate violent incidents under probe
Eastpointe police are investigating a pair of violent incidents that took place Wednesday night, including a fatal shooting.
A 34-year-old man died after he was shot in the 18000 block of Holland Street, in the Nine MileKelly roads area of the city. Officers were dispatched around 9:50 p.m. to the area for a report of a domestic dispute in progress with shots fired.
“Upon the officer’s arrival, they observed a 34-year-old male face down in the grass deceased,” police said in a statement. “The investigation revealed that there was an altercation between the victim and his girlfriend (homeowner) and her 15-year-old son.”
Investigators said they have two people in custody, but their news release did not indicate who is suspected for firing the gunshots. Authorities say evidence was collected at the scene.
According to police, the investigation into the case continues to “determine if charges will be filed.”
In a separate incident Wednesday night, officers responded about 7 p.m. to the 24000 block of Kelly Road near Stephens Road for a stabbing incident that had just taken place.
Investigators found a 35-year-old male holding his side and bleeding profusely.
Police said their investigation revealed “the victim and his 68-year-old father had an argument that resulted in his father stabbing him.”
The father was taken into custody while his son was transported to a medical facility where he is reported to be in critical condition.
Detectives did not say what the argument was about.
That case is also under investigation.
