Richard Raymond Mayack, 68, of Eastpointe was charged with intent to murder, a life offense, for allegedly stabbing his son during an argument on Nov. 16.

Mayack was arraigned in 38th District Court Nov. 17 where a magistrate charged him with intent to murder and domestic violence and set cash surety bond at $250,000 with the stipulation he must wear a GPS tether if he bonds out of the Macomb County Jail.

Mayack was allegedly involved in a verbal argument with his 35-year-old son at their home in Eastpointe. When the fight turned physical, Mayack allegedly stabbed his son in the abdomen and head. The defendant was arrested at the scene and his son was transported to a nearby hospital where he is in stable condition.

“This is a sad situation for the family; a family argument should never escalate to any type of violence,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido

A probable cause hearing is scheduled in 38th District Court on Nov. 29 8 a.m. and a preliminary exam is scheduled for Dec. 6 at 8 a.m.; both hearings will be heard by Judge Kathleen Galen.
