Woman shoots man to death in mobile home park
Deputies have been called to the home numerous times for domestic disputes
A Bruce Township man was fatally shot by a female following a domestic dispute, according to the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident happened Friday morning at the Springbrook Estates Mobile Home Park on Van Dyke Road, south of 34 Mile Road. Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a 911 caller reporting a man had been shot and a child could be heard screaming.
When deputies arrived, they located a 36-year-old male who was bleeding inside the home. He suffered what appeared to be a gunshot wound to his abdomen, and later died from his injury, deputies said.
“The two became involved in some type of altercation at the female’s residence that led to the female shooting the male,” Sgt. Renee Yax said in a statement.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the shooting took place about 9:50 a.m. when a resident at the mobile home park called to say a child was heard screaming from one of the homes.
Yax said the relationship between the woman who lived here and the victim was not immediately known. However, she said deputies have been to the residence numerous times within the past year for various incidents.
“Most recently, the male was arrested and charged with domestic violence in September and the case is still in the court process,” Yax said.
The male was currently out on a conditional bond and ordered to have no contact with the female.
Authorities said the child was unharmed, and turned over to the father who was at work when this incident happened.
Deputies said they found the weapon involved at the woman’s residence.
The female has been cooperative and has been released pending further investigation, Yax said.
The investigation is ongoing, authorities said.
