All-Macomb County awards announced
Eisenhower, Armada and De La Salle Collegiate won team honors at the Macomb County boys tennis postseason awards celebration.
Eisenhower was named the county Team of the Year in Division 1 and Armada and De La Salle shared the honor in Division 2-3-4.
The Eagles won a MAC Red Division championship for the first time as they shared the title with Grosse Pointe South. Coached by Mike Pearson and Kevin Donahue, Eisenhower qualified for the state finals and achieved its second-best showing at the tournament.
Armada, coached by Tom Reuter and Dave Fredette, won the Blue Water Area Conference championship and qualified for the state finals for the 35th time — and the first time since 2015. Seven of the Tigers’ eight flights won 20 matches or more.
De La Salle was a conference tournament finalist. Coached by Annie Michol, the Pilots had a cumulative grade point average of 3.999.
Michol was named the Division 2-3-4 Coach of the Year. Chippewa Valley’s Colin Evanson won the Division 1 award.
Alex Buzdugan of Stevenson was named the county MVP. The senior had a 26-2 record, including a 16-0 mark against county competition, and he went undefeated in MAC White matches.
