Amare Snowden is looking for a new college home.

The Roseville senior said on Twitter Monday he has withdrawn his commitment to Cincinnati in the wake of football coach Luke Fickell’s departure for Wisconsin.

“This decision was hard to make but after consideration, I will be decommitting from the University of Cincinnati and reopening my recruitment. God plans,” Snowden wrote at amare_ snowden.

Snowden was one of two Macomb County all-stars who committed to the Bearcats.

Quarterback Brady Drogosh, who led De La Salle Collegiate to a second consecutive state Division 2 championship Friday, also committed to the school that will leave the American Athletic Conference for the Big 12 Conference next year.

Jonas Duclona, a defensive back from Naples, Fla., tweeted Monday that he withdrew his commitment.

The 6-foot-3 Snowden played defensive back and receiver and returned kicks for Roseville, which won one playoff game before losing to De La Salle and finished 8-3.

He also is a left-handed pitcher who hoped to play baseball at Cincinnati.

“I want to first thank God for putting me in this position to be (a) student athlete,” Snowden wrote. “I want to thank my parents, my coaches and my teammates for helping me throughout this process.

“Thank you to all the fans, coaches and assistants at the University of Cincinnati.”

Snowden had offers from several schools, including Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Penn State and Wisconsin, before committing to Cincinnati, according to 247Sports.

Fickell posted a 57-18 record in six seasons at Cincinnati and

helped the Bearcats earn a College Football Playoff berth last year. The former Ohio State defensive lineman and longtime assistant went 6-7 as the Buckeyes’ interim coach in 2011 after Jim Tressel’s resignation.

“This is a destination job at a program that I have admired from afar for years,” Fickell said in a statement released by the university Sunday.
