‘Make A Veteran Smile’ for the holidays
Organizers: Cards, letters can make a difference
Those looking to make a difference are asked to help spread holiday cheer to local veterans by sending a card or letter as part of the Michigan Veterans Homes ‘Make A Veteran Smile’ campaign.
Cards or letters can really make a difference to these veterans, especially for those with attendance limited for activities and cautions on attending large gatherings. They are also good for veterans who may not have close friends or family to visit or interact with during the holiday season.
Guidelines for holiday messages include:
• Include a personal note in each card, using large writing and dark ink.
• Do not seal envelopes that contain the cards, put them in another to mail.
• Large format cards or banners that can be displayed or hung are acceptable
• Standard paper food tray liners with coloring or messages are a great alternative to cards and letters
Cards and letters can be addressed to ATTN: Make A Vet Smile and mailed to, Michigan Veterans Homes at Chesterfield Township, 47901 Sugarbush Road, Chesterfield, MI 48047.
