St. Therese of Lisieux to host Cupid’s Comedy night Feb. 4

Cupid’s arrow will strike the funny bone as well as the heart on Feb. 4, when St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church hosts Cupid’s Comedy Night.

The comedy night comes on Feb. 4, just prior to Valentine’s Day, and will be held at 7 p.m. at the church. St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church is located at 48115 Schoenherr Road in Shelby Township. This year, marks the fifth St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church has hosted the fellowship comedy night, according to Chris Piebiak, St. Therese director of family ministry.

“We always do it in February, obviously because of Valentine’s Day and things like that, we coordinate it around that,” Piebiak said. “It is a fun night for couples to come out and get laughs, great food, a little bit of wine, and always a great comedian.”

The comedy event is open to the public to attend, and tickets are now available. Only those age 21 and over can attend. Piebiak said ticket sales will be capped at 300 people. Tickets are sold in advance only at a cost of $60 per couple. The ticket price includes alcohol, desserts and appetizers as well as entertainment.

Tickets can be purchased via links at stol.church/ comedy or from the parish office. They must be purchased at the parish office, which is open Mondays through Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., if the purchaser plans to reserve a table of 10.

Entertainment for the evening will kick off with the Macombers performance group from Macomb Community College. New Jersey comedian and writer Glen Tickle will be the featured performer. His family-friendly comedy act includes observational humor, geek and parenthood talk. Tickle has appeared on Amazon Prime, SiriusXM, COZI TV and the Travel Channel. He co-hosts the podcast Improvised Wikipedia, in which he “rewrites” Wikipedia without research.

Piebiak said Cupid’s Comedy Night is sponsored by the church’s Marriage Ministry subgroup.

He said that the subgroup was formed about 10 years ago to provide fellowship programs and enrichment programs yearround. Throughout the year this ministry holds couples events and marriage enrichment events, with topics such as budgeting and prayer life.

St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church has been established for 30 years, and has about 3,000 registered families.
