BERGLUND, BYRON B.

-

Byron B. Berglund was born in Mt. Clemens, Michigan on March 5, 1944 and passed away on February 9, 2023. He was three weeks shy of his 79th birthday. Byron and his older sister, Karen, grew up in Roseville, Michigan and attended Roseville Public Schools. In his senior year of the class of 1962, Byron was the president of the Honor Society and was the first chair clarinet player in Roseville High School Band. There he met his high school “Sweet Heart” (Anne Caldwell) who he married in June of 1966. Anne and Byron have been married for 56 years. After receiving his bachelor degree in education from Wayne State University he became a Roseville teacher. He taught grades 6th, 5th, and 4th throughout his 40 and a half years at Lincoln Elementary School. Byron continued his own education and received a Masters and Ed Specialist degrees during the 1970s. Then, his greatest joy came when his daughter, Carrie Anne, was born in 1981. The family moved to New Baltimore in 1986 so their daughter could attend The Anchor Bay School District where his wife was a teacher. Since his daughter became a student in Anchor Bay he took on the challenge of running for a position on the school board. He served as a member for 8 years and was able to hand his daughter her graduation certificate in 1999. In addition, because his daughter was in Anchor Bay’s marching/symphonic Bands, he was also “The Voice of the Marching Tars” for 15 years. His daughter has been married to John Romine for 16 years and they live in California with Byron’s two wonderful grandchildren, Jonathan who is 9 and Alexandra who is almost 4 years old. No matter how he felt, they could always put a smile on his face. Visitation for Byron will be from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 12, 2023 at the Wasik Funeral Home located at 35259-23 Mile Road in New Baltimore.
