Stevenson, Ike finish undefeated in MAC Red bowling
Stevenson’s girls and Eisenhower’s boys each completed perfect seasons in Macomb Area Conference Red Division bowling in the final meet of the season at Imperial Lanes.
The Eagles slipped past second-place Dakota 16-14. Eisenhower was led by Brandon Rinke (266256/522) and Kingston Corpuz (231-231/462). Dylan Maurer rolled 202-279/481 for the Cougars.
Stevenson finished 10-0 with a 24-6 win against L’Anse Creuse North. The Titans were paced by Rochelle Ferris (225199/424) and Megan Redmond (220-202/422). Sophie Paupert (204-173/377) was high for the Crusaders.
In other boys matches, Lake Shore edged Chippewa Valley 17-3 and L’Anse Creuse North
defeated Stevenson 22-8.
Tyler Kiroski (236-217/453) and Reece Dyrval (214-206/420) led the Shorians. Brandon Mento rolled 179-239/418 for the Big Reds.
LCN was led by Ryan Frederick (222-234/456) and Josh Schunemann (234-212/446). Trevor Tran (210-236/446) was high for Stevenson.
In the other girls matches, Chippewa Valley got past Lake Shore 17-13 and Dakota defeated Eisenhower 26-4.
Bella Bierl (142-176/318) and Ella Best (189-122/311) led the Big Reds. Avery Koebke rolled 141-171/312 for Lake Shore.
Dakota was led by Riley Brownrigg (268-194/462) and Haylie Patterson (214-197/411). Sophia Matheson paced Eisenhower with 177-185/362).
Wrestling
Five Memphis wrestlers advanced to individual regional competition from the Division 4 district at Manchester: Austin Kattleman, 144; Jack Tomczak, 165; Noah Goodwin, 285; Caiden Borowski, 120, and Troy Trombley, 126.
Girls basketball
The MAC tournament continues Tuesday. In the Red/White, Ford plays at Dakota and Anchor Bay plays at Grosse Pointe North.
St. Clair is at Marysville and Marine City at Cousino in the Blue/Gold, and New Haven is at Fitzgerald and Hazel Park at Warren Woods-Tower in the Silver/Bronze.
Championship games are at Cousino on Saturday.
In the Catholic League on Wednesday, Regina plays Mercy at 6 p.m. and Ann Arbor Richard plays Divine Child at 7:30 in Bishop Division semifinals at Detroit Catholic Central.
On Tuesday, Lutheran North plays Bishop Foley at 7 p.m. at Regina in a Cardinal Division semifinal.
Boys basketball Ferndale 82, Port Huron Northern 65
Chris Williams scored 17 points, Jacoby Jackson 16 and Caleb Renfroe 12 to lead Ferndale to the non-league victory. Cam Harju had 19 points, Alex Jamison 18 and Amir Morelan nine for Port Huron Northern.
Hockey
Wyandotte Roosevelt 6, Utica-Ford Unified 5
Landen Tilney scored three goals and Austin Fertik and Trevor Townsend had one apiece for Utica-Ford in the nonleague game. Earlier, Big Rapids defeated Utica-Ford 5-4 in overtime. Fertik had three goals and Townsend one.
