A Shelby Township illegal immigrant who possessed several guns and

2,600 rounds of ammunition has agreed to be deported, according to federal court documents.

Vires AlHakiem, 43, a citizen of Netherlands and an Iraqi native, recently pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Detroit to alien in possession of a firearm, punishable by up to 10 years in prison, and will be sentenced May 31 by Judge Laurie J. Michelson.

Al-Hakiem, who also was accused of stalking and threatening his estranged wife, in the plea deal signed Jan. 31 agrees to not only withhold any opposition but also to assist Immigration and Custom Enforcement agents in his removal from the United States, documents say.

Al-Hakiem obtained six weapons that were “shipped and/or transported in interstate or federal commerce,” according to the FBI.

The guns include two 19mm-caliber Glock models, two 39mm-caliber Arsenal Inc. models, a 28mm-caliber Ruger and 9mm-caliber Intratec Luger model.

The feds in the plea deal revealed additional information that Al-Hakiem also possessed 34 handgun magazines, seven of which were “high capacity,” and 53 long-gun magazines, four of which had “extended capacity,” in the Shelby Township home where he resided, court documents say. The magazines and 2,633 rounds of ammunition were unlocked and accessible to Al-Hakiem, the feds say.

Judge Michelson also ruled Al-Hakiem mentally competent at the Jan. 31 hearing.

The weapons charge replaced charges of stalking and transmission of a threat that federal authorities levied in October 2021.

Hakiem and his wife were going through a divorce when Al-Hakiem sent her a video in June 2021 during which he points a gun at the camera and says, “You see that gun? I put it inside your head and will empty 17 bullets in your f---ing head and go show this to f----ing judge what I say,” according to the FBI.

Macomb County Circuit Judge Rachel Rancilio, who was presiding over their divorce case, saw the video and filed a criminal complaint against Al-Hakiem.

The video was one of several unwanted, often threatening contacts by AlHakiem with his estranged wife, a Sterling Heights resident, who became his exwife Sept. 8, 2021 when Rancilio approved their divorce. Rancilio suspended Al-Hakiem’s parenting time with their four children due to what was described as his erratic behavior.
