Isaiah Buggs will remain with the Detroit Lions.

The defensive tackle is returning to the team on a two-year deal worth up to $6 million, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

His contract will have $2.1 million guaranteed, with $4.5 million in base salary and another $1.5 million which can be earned with incentives.

Buggs was a productive free agent addition in 2022 after signing with the team in July. He became a starter on the defensive line and finished with 46 tackles and one sack.

The four-year veteran was a mainstay in the trenches, logging 755 snaps in 2022 for the Lions. He finished with 20 pressures, second among to Alim McNeill interior defensive linemen.

Buggs finished the season with a 53.9 overall Pro Football Focus defensive grade.

Prior to coming to Detroit, Buggs spent the first three seasons of his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He played 29 games for the Steelers, recording 31 total tackles.

He was waived by the Steelers on Jan. 8, 2022 and signed with the Lions in the days leading up to training camp.

After the Lions finished the season 9-8, Buggs was open about his desire to remain a Lion.

to announce his hopes of resigning with the franchise, which have now become a reality.

“@Lions, I’m ready to run it back,” Buggs wrote in a Tweet published Jan. 16.

Buggs was one of multiple free agents along the defensive line the front needed to make a decision on.

John Cominsky and Austin Bryant are among the others set to hit the market.

The Lions have 18 players from their 2022 roster who are set to become free agents.

Free agency officially begins Wednesday, but the legal tampering period will officially begin Monday at 12 p.m E.T.
