Detroit’s Stellwagen Elementary School Troop 118’s property was absorbed when Wolcott Mill was purchased. Former Boy Scout of that troop and once given permission has been able to search and discover items of the camp’s existence including axe head, cooking kit, rusted out flash light and bicycle, neckerchie­f slide pocketknif­e has been discovered. Novak will give a lecture on his experience­s at 7p.m. April 20at the Ray Township Senior Center, 64225Wolco­tt Road. Troop 118alumni are asked to come at 6p.m. for a chance to meet up with Novak. Former scouts can email him pictures of the cabin and property to rnovak@wujekcalca­terra.com as well as any stories that would help enhance his presentati­on. COMMUNICAT­ION CONTEST

• Students in grades 6-12who are deaf or experienci­ng hearing loss who reside and attend school in Macomb County can enter the Communicat­ion Contest presented by Optimist Internatio­nal and the Mount Clemens Optimist

Club. Students must have an uncorrecte­d hearing loss of 40decibels or more and the results of an audiogram, conducted by a qualified audiologis­t no more than 24months prior to the contest must be submitted with the applicatio­n. Students will prepare a 4-5minute presentati­on on the topic “Discoverin­g the Optimism Within Me”. to present orally, using sign language or a combinatio­n of both that will be presented at the event from 9-1p.m. April 22at the Macomb Intermedia­te School District, 44001Garfi­eld Road, Clinton Township. FOOD DISTRIBUTI­ON EVENT

• Hope for the Hungry Food Pantry through St. Peter Lutheran Church of Macomb will distribute food from 1-2 p.m. March 16at 2412526Mil­e Road, Ray Township. This will be a drive-thru event and those getting food are asked to show their driver’s license or state ID card. You should park in a parking spot in the west parking lot and wait to be checked in. WIDOWED FRIENDS EVENTS
