L’Anse Creuse North blanks Armada in non-league soccer

L’Anse Creuse North returned from spring break in style.

Olivia Salerno, Chelsea Walter and Sofia Bull scored two goals apiece to lead the Crusaders to an 8-0 victory over Armada in a nonleague soccer match Thursday.

Malory Bliss and Sabrina Jaworski added a goal apiece.

“We played well given that we haven’t played a game in two weeks,” coach Glen Ursaki said. “Our MAC Red schedule starts next week. The girls are working hard to get ready.”

Bella Stout and Sophia Miller had two assists apiece and Bull one. Marah Bsoul was the winning keeper.

L’Anse Creuse North is 4-0. The Crusaders play Clarkston at home at noon Saturday.

Baseball

STEVENSON 13, UTICA 1

Alex Pierce scattered four hits and allowed no earned runs and helped Stevenson’s offense with a two-run home run in the MAC crossover game. Dane Richards hit a three-run triple during a six-run first inning. Brock Savage had a hit scored three runs. The Titans are 3-2. Utica’s Mason Brodi had a hit and Tim Geottes drove in a run. The Chieftains are 1-4.

GROSSE POINTE SOUTH 6, ANCHOR BAY 5

Cliff Grabowski had three hits and an RBI and Jake Kozel had two hits and three RBI to pace Grosse Pointe South (6-2). Hunter Belanger had two hits and two RBI. The Blue Devils scored the winning run on a bases-loaded hit batter in the bottom of the seventh. Walt Charuba pitched four innings, Everett Kielt two and winner Grabowski one. Grosse Pointe South hosts Roseville in a doublehead­er at 11 a.m. Saturday.

ST. CLAIR 3, EISENHOWER 2

Eisenhower’s Grant Bombe and Zack Verellen combined to strike out 10. The Eagles’ Justin Hurt had two hits and Donny Erfourth and Dom Ferraro drove in a run apiece. Ike is 1-3.

PARKWAY CHRISTIAN 18-17, HURON VALLEY LUTHERAN 0-2

Winning pitcher Kyler Maiorana struck out four and had two doubles in Parkway Christian’s season opener. Brent Polakowski and Mark Nesler Jr. had a double apiece. Dane Mazek had three hits and scored four runs, Nesler hit a triple and Frank Collins III doubled twice in the second game.

Softball

PARKWAY CHRISTIAN 15, MADISON 2

Lyla Mullins had three hits and two RBI and winning pitcher Jillian Hulley struck out 13 to lead Parkway Christian in the non-league game. Carlee Morgan, Hulley and Sophia Marchesi had two hits apiece. Morgan and Emma Bristol doubled.

MARYSVILLE 11, LAKE SHORE 1

Avery Wolters, Kalista Negin and Ryan Quain hit a home run apiece to lead Marysville to the MAC White victory. Wolters, who also doubled, and Meghan Winston drove in three runs apiece. Quain pitched three innings and Addi Vagi two. The Vikings are 1-0 in the division and 3-1 overall. They play at St. Clair on Tuesday.

ANCHOR BAY 5, FORD 0

Jessica Orlando had four of Anchor Bay’s 12 hits in the MAC Red game. :Paige Keown struck out eight while firing a two-hitter.
