MACOMB COUNTY TEAMS’ UPCOMING DISTRICT PATHS

The MHSAA boys basketball state tournament is on the horizon, and several Macomb County teams have their eyes set on a trip to the Breslin Center.

Below are breakdowns of each district featuring Macomb County squads and who they’ll have to beat to advance.

The district first rounds are slated for Monday, Feb. 26. The semifinals will be on Wednesday, Feb. 28 and district finals will take place on Friday, March 1. Host sites for each district are in parenthesi­s.

Division 1

DISTRICT 21 (HAMTRAMCK)

Fitzgerald, who finished 16-5 and lost to Utica in the MAC Blue/Gold championsh­ip, got a free pass to the district semifinal. They’ll take on 15-5 Detroit Renaissanc­e.

DISTRICT 22 (COUSINO)

This district is loaded with Macomb teams, led by De La Salle (12-7) and Roseville (10-7). The two squads have already moved onto the semifinals.

De La Salle will battle the winner of Lakeview (12-6) and Warren Woods Tower (7-10), while Roseville will get the winner of Cousino (7-8) and Lake Shore (4-14).

DISTRICT 23 (BIRMINGHAM GROVES)

Warren Mott (2-13) is the lone Macomb team in District 23. They’ve already been sent past the first round and are looking ahead to their district semifinal game

against Berkley (13-6).

DISTRICT 30 (ROCHESTER ADAMS)

Unbeaten and MAC Blue/Gold champion Utica’s already looking ahead to their semifinal game, which will be against either Stoney Creek (5-14) or Eisenhower (810).

Also in the district is Romeo (6-12), who will face Rochester (6-15) in the first round.

DISTRICT 31 (CHIPPEWA VALLEY)

An all-Macomb district, Ford II (9-8) and Stevenson (1-17) have already been sent on to the semifinal round where they’ll match up against one another.

The host Big Reds (12-8) await the winner of Fraser (10-7) and Sterling Heights (4-14).

DISTRICT 32 (ANCHOR BAY)

The final district of Division 1 also features an all-MAC lineup. Dakota (7-10) will go against Port Huron (11-8) on Monday with the winner earning the right to face Port Huron.

On the other side of the bracket is L’Anse Creuse North (11-8), who will face the winner of L’Anse Creuse (12-9) and Anchor Bay (4-12) in the semifinals.

Division 2

DISTRICT 58 (CHANDLER PARK ACADEMY)

Eastpointe (10-10) will look to represent Macomb County as the only area team in the district. They’ll face off against Detroit Denby with a shot to advance to the semifinals.

DISTRICT 59 (PERSHING)

One of Macomb County’s top teams, Lincoln (16-4), has already been sent to the semifinals, where they’ll await the winner of Pershing (6-6) and Hazel Park (7-11).

DISTRICT 61 (DETROIT COUNTRY DAY)

MAC Silver/Bronze champion Center Line (12-2) will await the winner of Lutheran North (8-9) and Michigan Collegiate (6-11), providing the opportunit­y for a battle of Macomb County schools in the semifinals.

DISTRICT 64 (ARMADA)

Armada (6-10) and Marysville (8-9) will duel for a chance to face off against St. Clair (12-5) in the semifinals.

Richmond (8-7) will await the winner of Marine City (3-17) and Algonac (0-17).

Division 3

DISTRICT 90 (DETROIT CENTRAL)

Center Line Prep (11-5) is headed to the district semifinals, where they’ll face the winner of University Liggett (6-11) and Madison Heights (1-16).

DISTRICT 92 (NEW HAVEN)

Clintondal­e (15-3) and New Haven (119) have already been sent to the district semifinals, where they’ll meet up for a spot in the finals.

On the other side of the district, Mt. Clemens (7-9) will play Pontiac Arts & Technology Academy (6-6) for the right to face Rochester Hills Lutheran Northwest (15-2).
