HANDS-ON LEARNING
Warren Con’s Career Prep Center to showcase array of high demand programs
Warren Consolidated Schools’ Career Prep Center (CPC) will showcase its programs of culinary arts, emergency medical tech services, and more on Thursday night.
The center is a high school located in Sterling Heights with a goal of preparing students for a career out of high school or for college.
Warren Con officials said students interested in learning more about the program are encouraged to attend the event.
“There will be hands-on learning, demonstrations, informational sessions, plus much more,” officials said Friday in a news release.
.The CPC is a Career & Technical Education center within Warren Consolidated Schools, which offers 14 high skills, high wage, high demand, career focused programs, teaching real world skills for students to succeed in the workplace and beyond.
While the CPC services a small number of students from neighboring districts, most students attend WCS high schools — Cousino, Community High, Sterling Heights, and Warren Mott.
Students who attend the CPC attend their home high school for their general studies and then are transported to the center for a two-hour block of CTE instruction in their desired Career Pathway.
The CPC offers programs for students in graphic design, building trades, collision repair, metal tech, pre-engineering computer-aided design, culinary arts, teacher cadet, dental science, emergency medical tech, health science, health science exploration, health science internship, computer information systems, and marketing & entrepreneurship.
The showcase will be held 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Career Preparation Center, 2200 15 Mile Road (at Maple Lane, west of Schoenherr Road), Sterling Heights.
