One dead, three injured in Saturday crash
Police say alcohol, speed were likely factors
“This crash is yet another sad example of what happens when alcohol and excessive speeds come together on the roadway.”

One person is dead and three people were seriously injured during an early-morning rollover crash in Warren involving two vehicles that caused four people to be ejected from a Chevrolet Tahoe.
“Our preliminary investigation indicates that excessive speed, reckless driving and alcohol may have been contributing factors to this crash,” said Warren Police Commissioner William Dwyer.
Warren police and fire units were called to the scene on Groesbeck Highway and Stephens Road at approximately 1:45 a.m. Saturday.
According to city officers, fire and police personnel immediately made contact with four occupants of a silver Chevy Tahoe that had rolled over during the crash causing the driver and three passengers to be ejected.
The driver of the Tahoe was pronounced deceased on scene and the three passengers were transported by Warren Fire Department personnel to an area hospital where they were in serious condition late Saturday morning.
Officers made contact with the occupants of a silver Chevrolet Impala that was also involved in the crash; no serious injuries were reported.
Dwyer said a preliminary investigation by his department shows the Impala was traveling south on Groesbeck north of Stephens next to the Tahoe. The Impala made contact with the Tahoe causing the Tahoe to roll over.
The driver of the Chevy Impala remained on scene and according to police, showed signs of intoxication and was placed under arrest.
Evidence technicians and accident investigators responded to the scene and temporarily closed Groesbeck Highway to gather additional information and evidence.
“Our investigators are working to reconstruct the sequence of events which led up to this crash that seriously injured three persons and caused the death of another,” Dwyer said. “Investigators will be presenting the facts of the case to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office who will then decide what criminal charges are appropriate.”
Dwyer expressed condolences to all of the families affected by the incident.
“This crash is yet another sad example of what happens when alcohol and excessive speeds come together on the roadway,” said Dwyer. “There are so many options available now which can ensure people can have a sober driver.”
