Graphic Design promotes social awareness
Amid the hum of creativity and the click-clack of keyboards, the graphic design students at New Haven High School are not just mastering software; they are crafting a visual symphony of social awareness. In collaboration with the Business and Printing Communications Career Technical Education teachers of Macomb County, these students have embarked on a mission to raise awareness and provide resources for various social issues through a poster contest.
The journey begins with thoughtful brainstorming sessions, where students identify social issues close to their hearts. From domestic violence to suicide awareness, they explore a myriad of causes before pitching their design ideas. Through critiques focused on strong design and supporting details, students refine their concepts, laying the groundwork for their final projects.
With approved ideas in hand, students unleash their creativity using
Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. Local animator and graphic designer Conrad Schmerheim’s visit provides invaluable feedback, enhancing students’ designs and skills.
