A St. Clair Shores harbinger of summer was revealed during Monday night’s City Council meeting as Parks and Recreation Events Director Henry Bowman announced the lineup for this year’s Music on the Lake concert series.

“It is exciting to have the presentation about the concert series at Veterans Park because we know that means summer is on the way,” said Mayor Kip Walby.

The series is once again presented by Petitpren Inc. beverage distributors and new sponsors this year are Amaze Transportation, BAS Security Systems and Genesis Chevrolet.

The Wednesday concerts happen at Veterans Memorial Park on Jefferson Avenue near Masonic Boulevard.

The Bluewater Kings kick off the series on June 5 followed by American Ages (classic rock and country/June 12); Stone Blossoms (classic rock/June 19); Devin Scillian and Arizona Sun (country/June 26); Rockstar (80s rock// July 10); Kathleen Murray & The Groove Council (R&B/July 17); Captain Fantastic (Elton John tribute band/ July 24); Family Tradition Band (country/July 31); Randy Brock Group (classic rock/Aug. 7); and Sunset Blvd. (classic rock/Aug. 14).

“Over the years, more than 330 concerts have taken place sponsored by Petitpren so they have provided music for more than one million people at this park,” said Walby. “We have second and probably third generations of families who have been part of these concerts over the years.”

Bowman said the Randy Brock Group is a new addition this year and that Devin Scillian and Arizona Sun, Kathleen Murray & The Groove Council, and Captain Fantastic are all back due to popular demand.

“We had a lot of requests to bring back some of these bands and we think this is going to be a great series,” said Bowman.

All concerts are open to the public and start at 7 p.m. Admission and parking are free.

“It is another strong lineup at Veterans Memorial,” Walby said.
