New Age Noodles in downtown Mount Clemens has found a new home.

The Asian eatery known for its tasty noodle bowls and miso broth is moving about a block down Main Street. It will soon open in the spot formerly occupied by Louie’s Town Grille, which has closed its doors for good this week after seven years.

Chef Joshua Prakobkij confirmed the switch for New Age on Thursday. He plans to make a formal announcement next week.

“We started out with the intent to purchase at the end of our lease,” he said. “But as we got closer to the end, we realized the price was not within the means we were looking to spend.”

Prakobkij started the casual noodle shop in a strip mall on Hall Road in Clinton Township with his father, Toom Prakobkij, after graduating from culinary school. It was not unusual to see diners lined up outside the door of the 32-seat eatery during late-night hours.

A few years later, he decided to move into the 7,600-square-foot restaurant in Mount Clemens. A massive renovation followed.

Now Prakobkij and his

staff are gearing for another round of renovations in the 6,300-squarefoot

diner where Louie’s is leaving.

He said most of the existing menu items will make the move, including the banh mi sandwiches, egg rolls, and other Vietnamese-Filipino-Japanese blended dishes.

“It’s really all about whatever the clientele want,” Prakobkij said.

Instead of having two service times with a break in the day, the new venue will probably be open continuously from 11 a.m.- 8 p.m. He hopes to resume in the new location later this month or in May.

After having grown up in the Anchor Bay area, Prakobkij said he likes what he sees happening in downtown Mount Clemens, with the mix of new businesses coming into town.

“A lot of my friends are buying homes here,” he said. “The city seems like it’s on the up and up.”

The last service at the current location will be this Saturday.

Meanwhile, the staff at Louie’s Towne Grille bid farewell to their customers on social media.

“It is difficult to put into words how extremely grateful I was and am for your loyal patronage over the years,” the owner said on Facebook. “Most of our many loyal customers have become very good friends to us and have watched us grow not only in business but as human beings.”
