CC’s Rogowski among local players taken in OHL draft

Detroit Catholic Central’s Brooks Rogowski was a second-round pick in the recently concluded Ontario Hockey League Draft, selected by the Oshawa Generals at No. 38 overall, the first among a half dozen Oakland and Macomb county products selected in the 15-round affair.

Rogwoski had 19 goals and 24 assists for the Shamrocks, who won their fifth straight Division 1 title, and 18th overall in March.

The Saginaw Spirit franchise selected Washington Township defenseman Tyler Martyniuk from the Detroit HoneyBaked 15’s squad in the sixth round (No. 117 overall),

Birmingham center Stephen

King of the Detroit HoneyBaked 15’s, went three picks later (No. 167 overall) to the Barrie Colts team.

Center Trever Theuer, a Clarkston native who played for the Detroit HoneyBaked 15’s, went to Saginaw in the 10th round (201 overall), while Royal Oak defenseman Nicholas Bogas of the Oakland Jr. Grizzlies 15’s went to the Sarnia Sting in the 11th round (206 overall).

St. Clair Shores defenseman Dominic Pajkic, who played for the Shattuck-St. Mary’s Sabres 16U squad, was drafted by the Owen Sound Attack in the 11th round (209 overall).

Troy goalie Sebastian Gatto, of the Leamington Flyers, was drafted by the London Knights in the 12th round (242 overall).

The Windsor Spitfires grabbed Grosse Pointe Park defenseman Drake Gram from the Detroit Little Caesars 15’s in the eighth round (144 overall), while Gram’s teammate, defenseman Brayden Hughes of Mattawan, went two picks later to Sarnia.

Another from the Little Caesars 15’s, Belleville center Ethan Garden, went to Windsor in the ninth round (164 overall), while Portage defenseman Jackson Webster of the Fox Motors HC 15’s went later in the round (178 overall) to the North Bay Battalion.

Livonia winger Grandon Echols of the Detroit Honeybaked 15’s went in the 12th round to Flint.
