Eisenhower lacrosse players earn spots in state record book

A pair of Eisenhower lacrosse players were recently immortaliz­ed in Michigan lax lore: Tate Tomatti scored seven goals in a 12-1 victory over Cass Tech, and Matt Engelhardt recorded 24 saves in a 5-4 loss against Grosse Pointe South. Both of the performanc­es qualified for the MHSAA record book, putting their names in state history.

LUMEN CHRISTI 2, LUTHERAN NORTH 0

Brody Law threw four innings of two-run ball followed by a strong outing by Landon Fahey, but the Mustangs failed to score in the loss.

LUTHERAN NORTH 2, LUMEN CHRISTI 1

Joey Kowalak and Lucas Mackenzie both had RBIs for the Mustangs while Joe Chabot and Nate Nazarko shut down the LC bats.

PARKWAY CHRISTIAN 7, CLAWSON 4

Kyler Maiorana pitched five innings with eight strikeouts while scoring three runs on two hits with two stolen bases himself.

PARKWAY CHRISTIAN 4, CLAWSON 3

Luke Anderson hit the game-winning single in the bottom of the fifth while Brett Polakowski started for Parkway in the win.

RICHMOND 10, PORT HURON NORTH 3

Anthony Bonnetti had three hits in the win, leading the way for Richmond. Dominic Bonnettim Matt Yelenich and Gaige Towner each had a hit, while Logan Evans had one hit and two RBIs.

UTICA 10, GROVES 9

Kellen Condon got the pitching win, throwing three innings with zero earned runs while also getting two hits with four RBIS.

Joe Lount’s six innings of two-run ball weren’t enough for the Chieftains to get the doublehead­er sweep over their Oakland county foe.

LAKEVIEW 5, MARYSVILLE 0 EISENHOWER 2, ROMEO 1

Carson Landino pitched six innings of three-hit ball with one unearned run. Jimmy McGuire’s bases-loaded walk tied the game and Zach Verellen walked after to get the winning run.

RICHMOND 6, IMLAY CITY 0

Anthony Bonnetti started, throwing five innings with two hits and six strikeouts. He along with Logan Evans, Joe Lindman and Luke Pastuchyn had two hits apiece.

CHIPPEWA VALLEY 12, ANCHOR BAY 6

The Big Reds scored six runs in the seventh inning to blow the game wide open. Caleb Sadowski had three hits, including two doubles, and Alex Hall and Ben Green each had two hits.

PARKWAY CHRISTIAN 3, NOVI CHRISTIAN 2

Mark Nesler gave Parkway the lead in the sixth inning. Kyler Maiorana stole four bases in the win, and Breww Polakowski threw a complete game with nine strikeouts.

UTICA 2, ST. CLAIR 1

Jacob Brohl threw all seven innings with seven strikeouts and just three hits allowed. Kellen Kondon led the offense with two hits and two RBIs.

STEVENSON 3, DAKOTA 1

Ryan Rumble struck out 11 Cougars in five innings of work and Brett Leonard smacked two hits in the win.

Softball

UTICA 11, ARMADA 0

Ava Mazza went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and four RBIs. Katelynn Perry and Elyssa Frezza each had three hits, and Perry pitched all seven innings with just one hit and six strikeouts.

UTICA 15, ARMADA 0

Elyssa Frezza collected four hits to lead the way. One of Rachel Durecki’s three hits was a home run, and Katelynn Perry added three hits as well.

DAKOTA 10, ST. CLAIR 0

Dakota ended St. Clair’s undefeated run as Gracie Maloney and Hannah Palmer combined for a no-hitter. Maloney threw five hitless innings with 11 strikeouts and had three hits and two RBIs. Kiley Phelan had a home run in her threehit day, while Casey Ross and Bella Crager contribute­d on offense, too.

CLINTONDAL­E 25, STERLING HEIGHTS 15

Ella Hyatt went 3-for-3 with a home run and a triple for Sterling Heights in the loss.

MARYSVILLE 7, IMLAY CITY 5

Clara Moore threw five innings of four-hit, two-run ball. Avery Wolters had four hits and a double.

MARYSVILLE 8, IMLAY CITY 6

Avery Wolters hit a double and a triple with two RBIs in the win.

LAKE SHORE 9, STEVENSON 4

Sophia VanDenstor­m struck out 16 batters for the Shorians while going 3-for-4 at the plate with 4 RBIs and a home run.

FORD II 12, CHIPPEWA VALLEY 2 (5 INNINGS)

Emily Leusby and Jade Kupsky both had two hits and three RBIs for the Falcons. Jenna Walters got the win on the mound.

GROSSE POINTE NORTH 4, ANCHOR BAY 2

Claire Swiatkowsk­i scattered nine hits and one walk across 6.1 innings while Kate Stemmler finished it off in the seventh. Addie Wakefield hit a home run for GPN, and Aubrey French went yard for Anchor Bay.

UTICA 5, ST. CLAIR 4

Katelynn Perry had three hits, including a double and two RBIs for Utica.

Olivia Salemo scored a hat trick and was supplement­ed by two goals from Eleanor Clayton and goals from Eve Allison, Bella Stout and Sammie Holdwick.

Jenna Wyrembelsk­i scored three goals while Bailey Anton and Marena Maceroni each scored one.

Ellera Jakubowski nailed the Eagles’ lone goal in a tight loss to the Oakland foe.

Stevenson’s Lucas Timbuc finished at the top of the pack in the match at Maple Lane East with a 37. Cousino’s Francesco Bonucchi shot 39, Stevenson’s Alex Girardi (43), Jake Fenwick (43) and Timothy Meister (46) followed and Cousino’s Kyle Nemeth (46), Joseph Bommarito (47) and Luke Stevenson (48) rounded out the top eight.

Stevenson had the top two finishers with Jake Fenwick (38) and Lucas Timbuc (42) leading the pack. Lakeview’s Troy Lutomski (42) and Vaughn Zmijewski (46) followed with Stevenson’s Andrew Kotcher (47), Lakeview’s Aidan Savoie (48), Stevenson’s Alex Girardi (49) and Timothy Meister (49) and Lakeview’s Connor Maki rounding out the group.

Marley Podolak and Emily Kim won singles matches for the Marauders and doubles teams of Mrinmohi Roy/ Jenny Nguyen and Tasreya Islam/Mou Paul got wins in doubles.

Dakota swept singles with wins from Ashley Gottschlin­g, Reagan Tencza, McKenna Koneval and Summer Nietubicz while the duos of Haley Isbell/Mary Varga, Erin VanHowe/Juliana Vidoevski, Isabella Ritter/Carolina Genna and Gabriella Fuller/Dominika Cybart won in doubles.

Julia Marian and Mia Jalics got wins for Utica in singles, but LCN took the rest of the matches. Lola Marina and Chloe Breece won in singles, while the duos of Sarah Curtis/Sam Curtis, Sally
