Gates, the son of former NFL AllPro tight end Antonio Gates, is a Dearborn Fordson product and was one of the top-rated signings in the Spartans’ 2022 recruiting class as a four-star prospect, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.

As a senior at Fordson, he had 55 receptions for 925 yards and 16 touchdowns, while also recording two interceptions and breaking up

nine passes on defense.

The 6-3, 196-pound Brown appeared in seven games as a freshman, recording three tackles.

Meanwhile, Primm, an Oak Park product, played nine games over his two seasons with the Spartans. In 2023, the 6-foot, 205-pound redshirt sophomore appeared in eight games, playing primarily on special teams.

Spartans land transfer LB Anthony Jones from Indiana

A day after wrapping up its spring Saturday, the Michigan State football team on Sunday continued to build toward the fall.

The Spartans received a commitment from Anthony Jones, a linebacker who last season played at Indiana. The 6-foot-4, 255-pound Jones confirmed the commitment on social media.

Jones, who began his career at Oregon, appeared in 12 games as a redshirt freshman last season, including four starts. He made 12 tackles, including a half-tackle for loss.

A Las Vegas native, Jones played two games at Oregon in 2022 in a redshirt season.
