Sustainable sushi dining experience courtesy Pacific Whale Foundation
Maui has a new luxury dining experience. Pacific Whale Foundation has partnered with award-winning Three’s Bar & Grill in Kihei on a twice-weekly cruise designed to educate people about sustainable seafood practices.
Leaving Ma‘alaea Harbor at 5:30 p.m. every Sunday and Wednesday, the latest cruise from PWF was designed as an intimate and attentive activity, allowing only 60 guests on a 147passenger ultra-smooth catamaran for a twoand-a-half hour cruise. Serving complimentary sake, wine, cocktails and beer (three-drink limit for adults 21 and older), PWF invites guests to enjoy pupu including edamame, fresh fruit, crispy veggie spring rolls and mango tequila shrimp ceviche.
An onboard sushi chef prepares pole-caught spicy ahi roll, Kampachi Farms avocado roll, California roll, surf-and-turf roll and Kumu Farms deluxe veggie roll, all while a certified marine naturalist shares detailed information about the sustainable seafood practices employed for each offering as it is served. Interesting insights into Hawaiian history and culture are also shared.
“Together we can make a difference and have some fun doing it!” says PWF Executive
Director Kristie Wrigglesworth. “The more often seafood is purchased from sustainably harvested seafood operations, the more that market will be pushed in a sustainable direction!”
Cost is $105 for adults and $55 for keiki ages 3 to 12. PWF members enjoy discounted prices of $84 for adults and $44 for keiki ages 3 to 12.
