NEW WORK BY MAUI ARTISTS EXHIBITED WITH RECEPTION
Village Galleries Maui kicks off its newest exhibition, “Images of Land & Sea 2019,” with a gala reception from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at its Lahaina location, 120 Dickenson St. Art lovers can enjoy a fun-filled evening of art, music, refreshments and painting demonstrations.
Showcasing recent work by Australian artists Ian Tremewen and Lorraine Abernethy, this latest display runs through Aug. 22.
Tremewen’s work reflects his interest in light, space and shadow as he creates in sculpture, contemporary glass and textiles.
Abernethy explores the surface of life through her work, scratching away at the layers, reaching beneath to reveal that which is glimpsed.

FOURTH ANNUAL DANCE CONCERT FROM ADT
Adaptations Dance Theater, Maui’s professional contemporary dance company, presents its fourth annual “Bring It Home” summer dance concert Friday through Sunday, Aug. 4 at Seabury Hall’s ‘A‘ali‘ikuhonua Creative Arts Center in Makawao.
Celebrating the professional artistry created from and thriving within Maui’s dance community, ADT brings back Maui-raised artists who are pursuing dance careers elsewhere. These dancers then collaborate with the growing number of dancers currently living on the island.
By encouraging this exchange of contemporary dancers between Maui, the
Mainland and beyond, the local community can experience a level of dance heretofore not viewed on island.
This year’s program features the world premiere of four distinct dance works, including a commissioned piece and performance by renowned guest company FLOCK of Chicago.
Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $30
for adults and $15 for keiki and students (with valid ID). For more information, visit www .adaptationsdancetheater.com or call 442-2231.
