Donations pour in after postponement

-

Donations and auction prizes continued to pour in after the March 13 “Go for the Green” fundraiser sponsored by the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset was postponed due to concerns about COVID-19.

An online auction resulted in $10,741.60 in donations to fund projects for the coming Rotary year.

“A big mahalo to all who helped by bidding online with the Go for the Green Silent Auction,” said Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset President Heidi Dollinger. She recognized fundraising chair Liz May and other Rotary members who organized the online auction.

Contributions of $575 for “Rescue a Rescue Tube” and $550 for “Support a Scholarship” were received as “special items” on the bidding site which was open from March 12 to 17. Also included in this figure were major contributions from the Lahaina Fish Company and 5A Rent-ASpace, according to an announcement.

Dollinger asked the 36 club members to think about projects they are passionate about and how they would like to focus their club’s efforts. President Elect Vanessa Moreno will be inviting club members to a visioning session before the end of June to determine priorities for 2020-21 Rotary year.

The club’s board of directors will be meeting in a virtual conference to determine how the club can continue to meet online while the COVID-19 restrictions are in place.
