Foundations and entities who contributed recently to Maui County community nonprofits and others are as follows:
Lahaina Intermediate School has been selected as a recipient of the
a nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives of youth through cycling. Donell Thomas, physical education and health teacher at Lahaina Intermediate School, said the school is excited about this opportunity to get more kids on bikes and bringing a cycling program to physical education classes.
Lahaina Intermediate school’s grant includes a classroom set of bikes and safety equipment for PE classes.

on behalf of AEP Renewables, has donated $10,000 in emergency funding to the Maui Food Bank to assist in the nonprofit’s COVID-19 response.
The gift from the foundation is one of six $10,000 grants distributed to nonprofits serving communities where AEP Renewables, a subsidiary of American Electric Power, owns wind energy projects. AEP Renewables’ Auwahi Wind project, located in Maui, is a joint venture with BP Energy and produces 21 megawatts of clean energy.
“Giving back to the communities where we live and work is a fundamental part of AEP’s culture and mission,” said Greg Hall, president of AEP Renewables. “Now more than ever, we’re proud to support local nonprofit organizations who are helping those struggling during this difficult and stressful time.”
The donation will help the Maui Food Bank address food insecurity and the heightened demand for assistance due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Enumclaw Garden Club member Sylvia Neth met Eric Demaria, Maui Master Gardener emeritus, on a cruise in Alaska. Demaria shared a jar of Maui Master Gardener honey with Neth and the story of the MMG bee project hives and educational demonstration bee house at the UH Maui campus.
The donation to the Maui club was raised during an Enumclaw Garden Club fundraiser and gifted to the Maui Master Gardener Bee Project.
