Rudy Oen, 86, of Haiku peacefully passed away on November 18, 2020 at 7:23 am under the care of Hospice Maui. He was born on August 10, 1934 in Malang, Indonesia to the late Bing-Tiat and Erna Oen.

He attended the University of Pajajaran in Bandung, Indonesia where he received a degree in Physical Education and swam competitiv­ely with Aquarius Swim Club that he founded. He swam with the Indonesian national water polo team and participat­ed in the 1958 Asian Games in Tokyo, where they received the bronze medal. He continued his passion for swimming until he was 84, participat­ing in numerous competitio­ns including the Waikiki Rough Water Swim, Maui Rough Water Swim, the Kaanapali Classic, and the Kihei Rough Water Swim.

In 1962, he married Eugenie (The) and recently celebrated their 58thweddin­g anniversar­y. He started a family in Surabaya and made the bold decision to im-migrate to Maui, Hawaii with his young family in 1968.

During his first years on Maui, he worked at Valley Isle Produce, Seabury Hall and Avis Car Rental before deciding to start his own business, Loompia House, in 1976. He and Eugenie owned and operated their business for 44 years.

Rudy enjoyed raising and racing homing pigeons, a hobby he nurtured since his youth in Indonesia. He was a member of the Maui County Flyers, a racing pigeon club where several of his birds competed and won races from the outer islands. He also created a home in his yard for countless dogs, cats, doves, ducks, chickens guinea hens, turtles, and fish.

In 1972, he purchased property in Kokomo, where he ultimately built a home, cultivated the land and tended to many tropical fruit trees and plants. His passion was horticultu­re and gardening starting with roses, orchids and ultimately developing over 40 varieties of hibiscus hybrids. He loved to share his aloha and the fruits of his labor with many local friends and family as well as those that visited them from across the world.

Rudy is survived by his wife, Eugenie; sons, Ray (Evelyn) Oen of Issaquah, WA, Ronald (Lisa) Oen of San Jose, CA; sister, Carla (Guus) Mauri; grandchild­ren, Brycen, Cameron, Brennen, Dawson, Harrison, and Helene, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

After cremation at Ballard Mortuary, he will be with the family and ultimately laid to rest at Makawao Cemetery. Private funeral services will begin with the eulogy at 10:30 AM followed by mass at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Makawao. It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Richard Leo Dorzab on November 20, 2020. He was 74. Just two weeks short of his 75th Birthday. He succumbed to his cancer after a valiant five year battle.

Richard Leo Dorzab was born December 05, 1945 in Hood River OR, on of Harold Dorzab and Edna Chandler. Richard spent his early years raising his family of three girls. He worked in his own businesses Riches Auto Electric and later as a contractor. After the family was grown, he & wife Judy moved to Maui, Hi. There he worked as a plans examiner and building in-spector for the county of Maui. Later he worked as a soils inspector for Maui Geotechnic­al. He was a member of Kihei Baptist Chapel.

Although he was always an outdoorsma­n it was in Maui where he found and got to enjoy his true passion of offshore fishing.

He was preceded in death by his father Harold Dorzab and his youngest daughter Jennifer Lynn Dorzab.

He is survived by his wife Judy Dorzab of 39 years, Mother Edna Chandler, stepmother Rita Dorzab, daughters, Tamera & Kalei Angel and Angela Gabriel, brother, Jerry & Rosie Dorzab, sisters: Helen & Dick Irish, Sandy & Kenny Fisher, numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Richard made many friends over his lifetime and we know he was very sad to leave you all behind.
