December 2, 2003 – November 14, 2020 Nai‘a Souza, 16 years of age, passed away unexpected­ly on Saturday, November 14, 2020 near his hometown in Kahakuloa Village. Nai‘a was born on December 2, 2003 in Honolulu. He was currently a sophomore at Baldwin High School where he enrolled himself in the Junior ROTC program with plans to become an army ranger in the future.

He is survived by his loving parents; Father Ben Souza (Wend-Orrie Pawai-Stepmother), Cherisse Padaken, mother, (Stacey). His grandparen­ts Carla & Richard Mau, nana Cheryl Padaken; his siblings which include his twin brother Ahi, & his younger brother Kaimanu, as well as his sisters Gracie & Lacie. With many numerous aunties, uncles, cousins, nieces & nephews included. His extra ordinary & unique spirit will be forever cherished by all his loved ones.

Nai‘a was an amazing & intelligen­t young man. He took up learning one of the hardest foreign languages there is within a short amount of time. He taught himself how to read, write, & speak fluently in Japanese. Other things he loved to do was working in the yard planting kalo with his dad & brothers. He especially loved goat hunting with his brothers in the mountains. He also helped with various projects in our small kahakuloa community. He was always helping wherever & whenever, carrying the weight upon his shoulders & loving harder than anybody ever could.

We will be having a Funeral service at Ballards Mortuary, December 20th, 2020 including a drive thru viewing starting at 11am-noon. Burial to follow at Valley Isle Memorial Cemetery in Haiku. Celebratio­n of life at a later date. Goodbyes... Are Not forever... Are not the end.. It simply means...

I’ll Miss you... Until we meet again...
