It is with heartfelt, the family would like to share the loss of Ronald S. Takatani, 78, of Kahului who passed away November 1, 2020. Born June 20, 1942, to Yutaka and Hanayo Takatani of Puunene, Maui. Growing up in McGuerrow Camp, he was always reminiscin­g his fun life there being a kolohe boy.

After graduating high school, he joined the army. He later attended Eastern Oregon Teachers College, and retired from the Department of Education on Maui after teaching at Iao and Lihikai Schools. He also worked parttime for the Department of Agricultur­e as an inspector at the airport.

With his dedication to work with students, he was a Boy Scout leader and a little league baseball coach. His hobbies were taking his sons and father fishing on the boat, teaching his friends social dancing (waltz, foxtrot, swing and rumba), also going to Las Vegas, but most of all, he loved cooking and having family over for dinner every Sunday nights and holidays.

Ron was always happy to be there to help friends with projects, but when asked if he needed help, his reply was always “no”. He felt as long as he was able to do - he was okay.

Survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Amy, his beloved children, Brice (Julie), Rona (Kelvin) Alexander, and Tyran (Jamie). His cherished grandchild­ren, Shayla, Jorden, Chole, Dalen, Quinn and Quentin. His shadows, Deedee (poodle) and Rocky (beagle). Brother Dennis (Patricia) of Honolulu, Rene (Wayne) Otani, Maui, and Gayle (George) Ito of Honolulu, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services Monday, December 21, 2020, Nakamura Mortuary. Visition 9-10 am walk through only with private family service to follow. Burial same day, 1:00 pm, Makawao Veterans Cemetery. We would like to thank Nakamura Mortuary, Makawao Veterans Cemetery and Kahului Hongwanji with assisting of arrangemen­ts.
