Woman accused of driving into home

A woman was arrested last month after she allegedly drove a vehicle into her ex-husband’s residence in Kihei, then went into the home and damaged property inside, police said.

Walta Teclesenbe­t, 35, of Maalaea was charged with first-degree burglary and firstdegre­e criminal property damage. Her bail was set at $20,000.

She was arrested after police were called shortly before 11 a.m. May 27.

Her ex-husband reported that after driving the vehicle into the residence and smashing a vinyl fence, wall and window, Teclesenbe­t reversed and drove into the residence on Malimali Street again, police said. He ran out of the residence when she went in and damaged property, according to police.

Damage was estimated at more than $25,000.

In another case, Teclesenbe­t was reported to be throwing furniture from her condominiu­m, police said.

The defense has asked for a mental health evaluation for Teclesenbe­t, who is scheduled to have a continued arraignmen­t June 23 in 2nd Circuit Court.
