Donations available with Thanksgivi­ng meals

Customers ordering Thanksgivi­ng meals at any of T S Restaurant­s’ eight Hawaii locations will have the opportunit­y to make a donation to Hawaii Foodbank, the company announced.

Takeout Thanksgivi­ng meals for one or four can be pre-ordered Monday through Nov. 22 and picked up hot on Thanksgivi­ng Day. Meals include roasted turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes or yams, vegetables, cranberry sauce and housemade gravey. Sides come with the meal but may be purchased a la carte.

The meals are priced at $36 for one and $134 for four. Starting Monday, customers can click “order takeout” on each restaurant’s website to order their meal and schedule a pickup, as well as add a donation to Hawaii Foodbank.

Through T S Restaurant­s’ Legacy of Aloha Foundation, the company will match donations up to $5,000 per restaurant location.

T S Restaurant locations on Maui include Duke’s, Hula Grill Kaanapali, Kimo’s Lahaina and Leilani’s on the Beach.

Each restaurant will also offer Thanksgivi­ng meals and regular menus for dine-in customers. Reservatio­ns are required.

Hunger in Hawaii is at its highest levels in almost a century, according to the news release. Currently, one in four children are at risk of going hungry in Hawaii, and the state has the second-highest rate of food insecurity among children in the country. In addition, the number of individual­s served by Hawaii Foodbank remains more than 60 percent higher than before the pandemic. All funds raised for the Hawaii Foodbank will stay on each island and will be used to support the island food banks’ various initiative­s to keep their communitie­s from going hungry.
