MHS Hall of Honor inductees announced
The Maui High School Foundation recently announced the Maui High School Hall of Honor Class of 2022 inductees.
They are state Sen. Gil KeithAgaran (Class of 1980); Earl Tanaka, former managing editor of The Maui News (Class of 1939); retired longtime head custodian Lynette Ducosin (Class of 1979); community volunteer Yaemi Yogi (Class of 1942); and robotics teacher Keith Imada (Class of 1982).
Keith-Agaran received the Award of Excellence, which is presented to an alumnus who has excelled in his or her field or profession. Tanaka earned the Silversword Heritage Award, which is presented to an alumnus who is distinguished in life and work. Ducosin was named the Saber Spirit Award winner, an award that is presented to an unsung hero to the school. Yogi is the
recipient of the Spirit of Maui Award, which is presented to an alumnus who has significantly contributed to the community. Imada captured the Inspiration Award, which is presented to a faculty member who went above and beyond and made a difference to his or her students.
The five inductees will be recognized at the Hall of Honor Awards Banquet from 5:30
to 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 20, at the Maui Beach Hotel.
The Maui High School Foundation established the Maui High School Hall of Honor in 2011 to annually recognize individuals with ties to Maui High School who have made outstanding contributions to the legacy of the school and community. The Hall of Honor selection committee is made up of alumni, faculty
members, students and members of the local community. The Hall of Honor Awards Banquet serves as the foundation’s primary fundraiser to support its mission.
