Luke Kahuhu of Kamehameha Schools Maui was the top finisher from the Maui Interschol­astic League at the Billy Tees/HHSAA state bowling championsh­ips, placing 20th in the boys competitio­n Friday at Leeward Bowl in Pearl City, Oahu.

Kahuhu bowled a total of 1,502 in eight games for the MIL champion Warriors. Teammate Anson Cabello totaled 1,395 pins to finish in 45th place as the KSM boys placed eighth with a total of 6,495.

Other bowlers for the KSM boys were Reel Yoshida (78th, 1,119, 7 games), Shayden Nomura (82nd, 1,271, 8 games), Kenji Masuda (99th, 516, 4 games), Seth Navas (283, 2 games) and Chaycen Cabanas (409, 3 games).

Other MIL boys competitor­s included Baldwin’s Chase Nozaki (60th, 1,350, 8 games) and Bryceson Gaoiran (89th, 1,217, 8 games), and King Kekaulike’s Travis Brittain (75th, 1,292, 8 games) and Micah Anakalea Jr. (95th, 1,141, 8 games).

Castle’s Kalin Ogata took individual medalist honors with a 1,821 total, leading the Knights to the team title (8,005) over Hawaii Baptist (7,870) and Pearl City (7,586).

In the girls competitio­n, Baldwin’s Kalena Torres-Estores led the way for the MIL, finishing in 46th place with a total of 1,176 in eight games.

MIL girls champion Kamehameha Maui was led by Haley Augustin (56th, 854, 6 games) and Staysia Haleakala (58th, 1,135, 8 games) as the

Warriors placed seventh in the team standings at 5,161.

The Warriors team also included Kira Gomez (70th, 914, 7 games), Gabriella Pinheiro (71st, 911, 7 games), Lauryn DuBach (82nd, 494, 4 games), Keakahaapo­li Kaia (546, 5 games), Marley AldisKawaa­koa (100, 1 game) and Alyssa Mateo (86, 1 game).

Other MIL girls bowlers were Maui High’s Jacy Anne Dela Cruz (68th, 1,064, 8 games) and Michelle Garcia (77th, 1,021, 8 games), and King Kekaulike’s Tiare Lucas (97th, 788, 8 games).

Led by individual champion Jayna Yockman (1,684), Kapolei won the girls team title with a total of 7,457. Pearl City (7,337) placed second and Kamehameha Kapalama (6,897) third.
