ANNOUNCEMENTS ■ BODYBOARDING
Jan. 21-22—The 25th annual Paia Bay Beachfest is scheduled for Jan. 21-22 at the Paia Youth & Cultural Center.
The family-oriented bodyboard and soft top surf competition, presented by Positively+KAI, is open to all ages. The first heat is in the water at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21, following the event blessing and dedication. Registration is currently open and will close on Thursday. All registration will be done online at pyccmaui.org. Families and friends can follow the scores and schedule during the event from the same website. The entry fee is $30, and $10 per additional division. Divisions will be strictly split by age. Competitors receive a collectible T-shirt and swag from sponsors. The event will feature special guests, emcees and judges, including world-champion waterman Kai Lenny. Two days of competitive waveriding will be followed by an awards ceremony on Sunday, Jan. 22 at sunset.
■ TRACK AND FIELD
Today—The Maui Interscholastic League will be hosting a track and
field clinic today from 8 a.m. to noon at Maui High School in Kahului. The clinic will be held in the weight room allpurpose room next to the gym and will be given by Glenn Wakamoto, Doug Kilpatrick and Bill Henshaw from Oahu. All MIL track officials should attend and anyone interested in becoming an official is welcomed to attend. Coaches are also welcomed to attend. Officials will be taking a test and be certified to officiate at the state track and field championship meet, which Maui will be hosting in May.
