If it is true, as the song suggests, that “love is a manysplendored thing,” the other songs that suggest love is “a battlefield”, “a country” or “a losing game” may just as likely be true. The angle of Venus and Uranus portend that whichever way love leans today, we’ll be surprised how it falls.
