OBITUARIES Elsie Santos, 61

Elsie May Lani Santos of Kahului, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Friday, December 16, 2022 at Maui Memorial Medical Center in Wailuku. She was born on October 9, 1961 in Kahului to Donald Santos, Sr. and Evelyn Dutro Santos. They resided at Naska at the time.

Elsie is survived by her brothers Alan Santos, Jon Santos and Glen (Napua) Santos; sister Donlyn (Bobby) Haupu. She is predecease­d by; parents, Donald Santos, Sr. and Evelyn Dutro Santos and brother Donald Santos Jr. She was blessed with 25 nieces and nephews and 25 great-grand nieces and nephews; she loved to stay close and connected with all of them.

Elsie graduated from Maui High School, she played softball, basketball and ran track. She used to work at Maui Pine and Maui Meat Co. Elsie was a member of the Maui Wheelers, a support group for Maui individual­s with wheel-chairs, scooters, walkers and assistive mobility devices. She was also a strong advocate for Peoples with Disabiliti­es.

The Santos Family want to extend their sincere gratitude to the wonderful nurses, aides and staff of her home-care ohanas at Bayada and Mastercare for the many years of superior care and love. Many of them have become Family over the years. We also extend this same heartfelt gratefulne­ss to the nurses and staff of Maui Memorial Medical Center for Elsie’s care over the year of being in the hospital and in her final days. Elsie will remain forever in our hearts and memories.

Honoring her wishes, there will be a scattering of ashes on July 22, 2023 at Hookipa about 11:00am. A luncheon will follow at 1:00pm for Celebratio­n of Life at Haiku Community Center.
