Ruth Kawailani Soares, 81

Ruth Kawailani Soares, devoted Jehovah’s Witness, wife, mother, sister, and friend to many, died 12.17.2022, at the age of 81. She was born on the iland of Molokai to the late William and Mary AhYee on 07.14.1941.

She grew up and lived most of her young adult life on the island of Molokai and married her long-time friend, Jacob H. Soares, also from the island of Molokai. They were married on 12.31.1958 and had five children, Jadelin (Coy) Wright, Bryan (Gwen) Soares, Dexter (Rhona) Soares, Stacy (Alan) Fukuoka, and Michelle D. (Kyle) Miyajima. Later, they moved to Oahu and spent some years there until they finally settled on the island of Maui. Ruth spent much of her time with the Wailuku Congregati­on of Jehovah’s Witnesses and was very active in the preaching work as a Regular Pioneer.

Aside from her preaching work, Ruth loved to fix puzzles on her leisure, and spending time with her grandchild­ren whenever they would visit. Ruth’s grandchild­ren are, Jeremy Choi, Amber (James) Cuadros, Alyssa Fukuoka, Brittni (Chris) Soriano, Jake (Victoria) Wright, Nainoa Miyajima, and Zechariah Soares.

Services will be held on February 4, 2023, at the Wailuku Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses located at 800 Onehee Avenue in Kahului. Visitation will begin at 4:00PM with service to begin at 5:00PM. All are w e c o m e to attend.

For those who may not be able to attend in person, a Zoom broadcast will be available and will also begin at 4:30PM.
