Maddela homers, Fujioka has solid start as Bears top Na Alii 7-1

Levi Maddela launched a home run and drove in three runs, and the Baldwin High School baseball team defeated Kamehameha Maui 7-1 on Friday night at Maehara Stadium in Wailuku.

Bears starter Kade Fujioka held the Warriors to one run over four innings, and Haokea Kekahuna-Tomita tossed three scoreless innings to secure Baldwin’s second straight win over the Warriors in the teams’ season-opening series.

Fujioka gave up three hits, walked four, struck out one and hit a batter, and Kekahuna-Tomita fanned two while allowing a pair of hits and walking two for the Bears (2-0), who led 6-0 after three innings.

Duke Aloy went 2 for 4 from the plate for the Warriors (0-2).

KING KEKAULIKE 8, LAHAINALUN­A 0:

At Maehara Stadium, Lea Poouahi and two relievers pitched the shutout as Na Alii (2-0) defeated the Lunas (02) for the second straight day.

Poouahi struck out six, allowed five hits and walked five in five innings to get the win on the mound, and Kamakalei Stone and Sora Kitagawa each pitched an inning of scoreless relief.

From the plate, Stone

doubled among his two hits, drove in a run and scored another for King Kekaulike. Kitagawa also had two hits and scored a run.

Dane Markulis and Tevai Furtado both went 2 for 3 for Lahainalun­a.

MOLOKAI 14, LANAI 4, 4 INN.:

On Molokai, the Farmers collected 11 hits en route to defeating the Pine Lads on Friday in a game that ended during the bottom of the fourth inning due to the 10-run mercy rule.

Kynan Cariaga-Abafo was 3 for 4 with two RBIs to lead Molokai (3-0). Miken Loo, Solomon Kikukawa-Teriong and Hokuau Arce all had a triple among their two hits, with Arce and Kikukawa-Teriong each driving in two, and Hoolei Arce had three RBIs and three runs scored.

Kikukawa-Teriong started on the mound for Molokai and tossed three scoreless innings.

SEABURY 13, HANA 2, 6 INN.:

At Maui High, Asher Halick, Carter Rosenthal and Makani Deponte each drove in two runs as the Spartans improved to 2-1.

Bryson Tasaki didn’t allow an earned run in pitching a complete game, giving up a hit, a walk and two hit batters while striking out nine.
