UH top­ples Long Beach State in four

Norene Iosia and An­gel Gaskin each had 12 kills to lead the Univer­sity of Hawaii women’s vol­ley­ball team to a 25-22, 25-19, 23-25, 25-20 vic­tory over Long Beach State on Fri­day night at the Stan Sher­iff Cen­ter in Honolulu.

Af­ter drop­ping a close third set, the Rain­bow Wahine gained sep­a­ra­tion at the most im­por­tant time in the fourth. Tied 20-20, UH reeled off five straight points — in­clud­ing a chal­lenge that re­sulted in a net vi­o­la­tion call on the 49ers — to take the match.

Iosia also had 26 as­sists and 11 digs, and Sarah Liva added 11 kills for Hawaii (10-6, 6-1 Big West Con­fer­ence).

Tyler Spriggs led Long Beach State (11-9, 3-4) with 17 kills.

The Rain­bow Wahine host Cal State Northridge to­day.
