UH topples Long Beach State in four
Norene Iosia and Angel Gaskin each had 12 kills to lead the University of Hawaii women’s volleyball team to a 25-22, 25-19, 23-25, 25-20 victory over Long Beach State on Friday night at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu.
After dropping a close third set, the Rainbow Wahine gained separation at the most important time in the fourth. Tied 20-20, UH reeled off five straight points — including a challenge that resulted in a net violation call on the 49ers — to take the match.
Iosia also had 26 assists and 11 digs, and Sarah Liva added 11 kills for Hawaii (10-6, 6-1 Big West Conference).
Tyler Spriggs led Long Beach State (11-9, 3-4) with 17 kills.
The Rainbow Wahine host Cal State Northridge today.
